Sondra “Soni” Dimond Martorana, daughter of the late A. Kenneth Dimond and Spacha “Pat” Dimond, passed away peacefully on January 9th, 2025 at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA. 

Her sister Kendra preceded her in death in 2012.

 

Soni attended Cedar Cliff High School and Gettysburg College. She was a pioneer in the television industry, being the first women anchor at WHTM abc27 in 1979.  She also was a reporter for WGAL-TV8 in the early 1980’s reporting on news stories and doing a segment called Consumer Corner.

Soni worked for AFSCME in Washington, DC and then the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry in Harrisburg, PA. She started her own media consulting business in 1995 training politicians and businesspeople how to do television interviews. Most recently she has been working again for WHTM abc27. She created a segment called Vibrant Living, about seniors and how they were enjoying life.   Soni also co-anchored segments of Good Day PA! 

 

Soni leaves behind her niece Elena Lomicky, husband Joe, their son Emerson and her husband, 

Kevin Martorana, after 28 years of marriage.

A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S Harrisburg Street in Oberlin with Rev. Ilija Balach officiating. Burial will follow at Churchville Cemetery. A Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday prior to service from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM.
